Harper had her six month doctor's appointment today at our new pediatrician in Denver. I am very happy with the new pediatrician based on today's visit. They describe their practice as "integrative" and "holistic," which is in line with the way that Andy and I are raising her. They are all MDs but use herbal and homeopathic remedies where applicable and try to avoid prescription medications unless necessary.
Harper is no longer our well-proportioned, everything in the 50th percentile baby. (Not that it's a problem, she's absolutely perfect in our eyes!) She weighs 15 pounds, 14 ounces and is 25 inches long. She is in the 50% for weight, 30% for height (I was pretty sure that her chances of being tall were minimal!) and 55% for head circumference. The doctor gave me the go-ahead to introduce solid foods on a regular basis and said that she should have 2 meals a day worth of solids. We have introduced a few things but she has never really eaten more than a tablespoon or two, and honestly, most of that has ended up on her bib. I have been a having a great time preparing and freezing a variety of foods for her, now I am excited to start really feeding her. Even more than that, I am excited that I will no longer be her sole food source. I have loved every moment of breastfeeding and plan to continue until she wants to stop, but I am happy that it won't be all me from here on.
Grandma Messier ("Anna") comes into town tomorrow for 4 days. Normally, it snows every time that Anna comes out here, whether it's June, August or October and we're wondering if the trend will continue with this visit. It already snowed this morning - about 4 inches - and will be 75 by Wednesday, so maybe she missed it this time! We are very excited for her visit and plan to take Harper to the Denver Zoo for the fist time. I also plan on going to yoga since I will have a live-in babysitter, which I am thrilled about!
