We had an ultrasound at 32 weeks to determine the baby's position as there was some concern that she was lying transverse- essentially using my uterus as a hammock. We opted to get a 3D ultrasound as my parents were in town and it could be a nice family event. Also, after enduring a couple of tough weeks physically, I was looking forward to something to motivate and excite me through the remaining time of the pregnancy
The 3D ultrasound exceeded all of our expectations! She is not transverse, she is in an "L" shape with her head down. The ultrasound tech noted a thick amount of hair on her head and guessed her weight to be around 4 pounds with an estimated birth weight of 8 pounds. From what I've been told, 8 pound babies are a common occurrence around Denver but less common at our elevation (9000 feet above sea level) so we'll just have to see about that.
